Business Best Practices

What is the best way to market to business owner managers online?
I run a Business Mentoring practice that is targeted at helping Owner Managers of medium sized businesses . I want to know what are the best ways on the internet to get in front of these types of people in order to market my services to them?
In order to effectively market to any business, whether online or otherwise, you have to mail them a letter/brochure introducing yourself and your product or service, and/or call them on the phone to try and arrange an appointment with their purchasing manager, or other senior executive, so as to be able to present what you have to offer in person. There is no way to contact them online that would not be considered SPAM, and likely result in complaints being filed against you. Also, it is extremely rare that any company will ever purchase from a spammer.

A qualitative analysis of a multicultural program assisting in the retention of undergraduate business students from under-represented groups at a predominantly White state university. $69 Both the U.S. population and college enrollments nationally are becoming increasingly diverse racially and ethnically. While students from under-represented groups continue to enroll in higher education in record numbers, African American and Hispanic students continue to drop out at higher rates than their White and Asian counterparts. An ongoing challenge for colleges and universities is to adapt to addressing the needs of their changing populations. Given the politically charged atmosphere that surrounds affirmative action programs at institutions of higher education, it is essential for educators who value diversity to implement the best practices for recruiting, retaining and graduating students from under-represented groups. This qualitative grounded theory study examined the perceptions and involvements of students and alumni who are or were engaged in multicultural program activities at predominantly White state university in a rural area of California. Participants in this research reported a clear sense of welcoming from the multicultural program staff while being recruited to attend the university, as well as a strong sense of belonging to the university community that was akin to “family” once they enrolled and became engaged in the program’s activities. The findings of this study have implications for educators working to enhance the persistence of students from under-represented groups in higher education. |

Accountants’ Truth: Knowledge and Ethics in the Financial World $35 Accounting is the language of business, increasingly standardized across the world through powerful global corporations: a technical skill used to reach the correct, unquestionable answer. Yet, as recent corporate scandals have shown, a whole range of financial professionals (auditors, bankers, analysts, company directors) can collectively fail to question dubious actions. How can this be possible? To understand such failures, this book explores how accountants construct the technical knowledge they deem relevant to decision-making. In doing so, it not only offers a new way to understand deviance and scandals, but also suggests a reappraisal of accounting knowledge which has important implications for everyday commercial life. The book is based on interviews with chartered accountants working in the largest accountancy practices in London. The interviews reveal that although accounting decisions seem clear after they have been made, the process of making them is contested and opaque. Yet accountants nonetheless tend to describe their work as if it were straightforward and technical. Accountants’ Truth digs beneath the surface to explore how accountants actually construct knowledge, and draws out the implications of that process with respect to issues such as professionalism, performance, transparency, and ethics. This important book concludes that accountants’ technical discourse undermines their ethical reasoning by obscuring the ways in which accounting decisions must be thought through in practice. Accountants with particular ethical perspectives more readily understand and construct particular types of knowledge, so the two issues of knowledge and of ethics are inseparable. Increasingly technical accounting rules can therefore counterproductive.
